Abbot Teofan
After a great fire, around 1692–93, Abbot Teofan obtained a protective decree (ferman) from the Sultan and began to rebuild the monastery. He travelled to Russia and brought back money, liturgical books and church objects. He edited the Rakovac Srbljak, the collection of hymns to Serbian ruler-saints completed in 1714 by the monk Maksim.
