Raka Milošević
According to a legend written down in 1704, Raka Milošević, chief chamberlain (veliki komornik) of Despot Jovan Branković, killed a deer at the place where the monastery now stands. To atone, he built a church there. Tradition dates this to 1498. The monastery and later the village took their name from him.
There is no contemporary document confirming the story; the monastery first appears in records in 1545–46. See The story of Rakovac Monastery.
