Ferry Beočin – Futog: timetable and prices
This small car ferry is the main crossing between Srem and Bačka near Rakovac. It saves about 25 km of driving through Novi Sad and gives you ten quiet minutes on the river.
Call before you go
The ferry does not always run: a neighbour found it not running on Saturday, 26 September 2026. Before a trip that depends on it, call 064 28 13 481 to check that it is running today. If it is not, the smaller ferry Banoštor – Begeč (see below) or the road through Novi Sad remain.The skela (ferry) links Beočin on the Srem bank of the Danube with Futog on the Bačka bank. A tug pushes a flat pontoon that takes cars, vans, bicycles and people on foot. A family business from Banoštor has run it since 2003.
When does the ferry run?
- From Beočin: every hour, on the hour.
- From Futog: every hour, at half past.
- Crossing: about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Summer: from about 6:30 in the morning to about 20:15 in the evening.
- Winter: from about 7:00 to about 16:30.
- Every day of the year except 1 January and Orthodox Christmas (7 January).
Check before you go
These times come from press reports (2017–2022) and from the pattern the ferry has kept for years. The first and last departures change with the season and the water level, so call before a trip that depends on the ferry.How much does it cost?
A car costs 500 dinars (2026). For people on foot, bicycles and larger vehicles, ask on board: the older prices published in the press (2018–2022) are out of date.
Where does it leave from?
In Beočin the ferry leaves from the landing on Put ka skeli, on the Danube bank, about 6 km west of Rakovac in a straight line. On the other side it lands on the Futog embankment.
When the Danube is low
In summer 2026, when the Danube fell very low, the Beočin ferry stopped for a while. The smaller ferry Jole between Banoštor (Srem, upstream from Beočin) and Begeč (Bačka) kept running even at the lowest water, but it takes only a few vehicles. It was reported to run from 7:00 (first departure from Banoštor) to 17:00 (last departure from Begeč), as of 2023.

Why take it
From Rakovac and Beočin it is the shortest way to Futog and western Bačka; without it you drive round through Novi Sad, about 25 km more. The crossing is also a small trip of its own: swans on the water, Fruška Gora behind you, and in the evening the landing is one of the best places to watch the sun go down over the Danube.
