Vidikovac Kesten
Kesten Lookout
From the Kesten viewpoint, 305 m above sea level, the view opens north over Novi Sad and the Danube.
TEMP PHOTOKesten (“chestnut”) is a hill east of the monastery. The viewpoint looks out over Novi Sad and the southern plain of Bačka. The walk from Rakovac or from Stari Ledinci passes the Hermitage of Isaija Parivodski and the Neven spring.
Access may have changed
In 2021 local residents reported that fences and gates near Kesten hill had cut the old yellow-marked trail between Novi Rakovac and Zmajevac, as well as the path from the monastery towards the Kesten spring. Hermitage of Isaija Parivodski
A tiny monk’s cell cut into a limestone cliff deep in the forest, named after Isaija Parivodić, a hieromonk of Rakovac who carved his name here in 1771. The only rock hermitage in Vojvodina.
